Elf
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
We are excited to FINALLY offer a Christmas-themed show this winter season!! Our students have been asking us to do this show for years and we are excited to offer it. Our staff of experienced Theatre Professionals work closely with the actors to immerse our cast in an active rehearsal process that features an authorized, age-appropriate script and score from the popular Broadway show (& movie!) that enables all actors to successfully stretch their skills regardless of his/her experience level. The program culminates in one weekend of ticketed, public performances at a local venue.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
PRODUCING A SHOW DURING THE CURRENT ENVIRONMENT:
Rehearsals will be in-person sessions in accordance with CDC standards. Rehearsals will be held in a large space that promotes social distancing (especially when the students are not onstage). The location for the in-person sessions is our new studio space in Chesterton, with performances in Valpo. We will encourage students to wear masks onstage and (especially) offstage. As we get closer to performance, it will not be possible to mandate masks when students are onstage since there is heavy singing and dancing in this show (but we will encourage the use of masks once students go offstage). Students will not be able to wear masks onstage during dress rehearsals and performances but we will try to create as much space backstage to encourage social distancing.
THE SHOW PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- 80+ hours of Rehearsal Lead by Professional Performers
- Fully-produced production
- All show fees (ie. licensing, sets, venue, etc.)
- Script and Rehearsal Music

We are pleased to announce that the role of Buddy will be played by one of our Premier Family alumni, Cade Hughes! Here’s a pic of Cade from 5 years ago when he joined us for ANNIE. We are so excited he has agreed to come back as a guest star for this project.
